Yes, if you have our Comprehensive Car Insurance, we'll cover the replacement of the keys and locks of your car if the keys are damaged, lost, or stolen. You don't have to pay an excess for claims where your vehicle keys are stolen, and all the following criteria are met:
- you have reasonable grounds to believe the thief knows the location of your vehicle
- your vehicle has no other damage
- the total value of your claim is less than $1,000.
If your claim is over the value of $1,000, you'll need to contribute towards the costs needed to replace your keys and locks. The most you'll need to contribute is the ‘Comprehensive excess’ shown on your policy schedule.
If you have our Third Party, Fire & Theft Car Insurance policy, you are able to claim for your keys if they are stolen. The excess noted on your policy schedule will apply for this type of claim. There's no cover for lost or damaged keys.
There is no cover for lost or stolen keys under our Third Party Car Insurance.
