Anyone who is listed under the 'insured drivers' section of your policy schedule is covered to drive your vehicle, so long as they meet your policy conditions. Drivers who regularly use your vehicle should be added to your policy, so that we can ensure you know they're covered should you need to make a claim. You can add a driver to your policy through My AA Insurance or by contacting us.
Any drivers who aren't listed on your policy may also be covered by our open driver policy. This means that, unless special terms* have been applied to your policy, any licenced driver who has your permission to drive your car will be automatically covered, provided they comply with our policy conditions and any applicable licence conditions they may have. For example, drivers must not have any unacceptable traffic or criminal convictions and must not have had any unacceptable claims or accidents (for example, a driver using the car illegally).
Please see your policy document for more information on all policy conditions that you and your drivers must comply with.
It’s important to note that excesses relating to age and driving experience may apply to you and your drivers. *Please see your policy schedule for excesses that may apply and to determine if any special terms have been applied to your policy.
If you'd like more information or want to discuss this further, please get in touch.
