We've partnered with the the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake (NHC)* to manage NHCover claims for natural hazards on their behalf. This means we will assess, manage and settle your entire claim—including the NHCover portion.
Due to the nature of NHCover claims, they often take longer to complete than other types of claims. Depending on the type and severity of damage, we may go through the following stages:
- Assessment. Once we can safely access your home, we will work with our own assessing team to gather more information. In many cases, we will require additional geotechnical engineering advice and a land valuation report before we can move to the next step.
- Review. As soon as we’ve received and reviewed all relevant reports, we’ll be able to confirm how your home and/or land have been impacted and what cover we can provide.
- Settlement. Where your claim is accepted and depending on the damage and cover available, settlements could vary. In most instances we will arrange for your NHC claim to be settled with a cash payment.
With several different stages, external providers and reports required, large claims, especially those that involve land, can often take weeks to months to be completed. Rest assured, we’ll be there with you every step of the way.
